Exploration in MudGate

Exploring an interior in MudGate

Handcrafted realms and generated dungeons both contain routes, clues, secrets, and discoveries. Exploration rewards careful observation as well as travel.

Earn exploration progress

Exploration points measure what you have discovered. Finding realms, uncovering secrets, and using clues in the world can increase that progress.

The game reports how many exploration points you gained and why. Your current progress appears in the game interface.

Read and interact

Inspect objects and read their descriptions carefully. A description may suggest a special command, nearby mechanism, hidden route, or other interaction.

For example, a portal description might hint at a nearby button. Using the suggested command can reveal what the object does and may reward the discovery.

Keep a record

Objectives organize quests and tasks, while the Lore Journal records entries after you discover them. Detailed clues and journal entries remain part of the game.
